Anyone who's had to weigh the college funding decision knows how complicated it is even for professionals, but help is on the way -- starting with the high school class of 2012.
The federal government has ordered all colleges to put together online calculators that tell would-be students and their families exactly how much they'll pay over the near term and long term.
While a lot of schools have already put their calculators up, the rest have until October to do so -- which would make this new provision nice for those who start looking for a college next year, but a little late for those who needed to decide this spring where they'd be matriculating in the fall.
As with any other online calculator, quality varies widely. The Institute for College Access & Success tested several and came up with some interesting observations.
